I'm looking for a new valve for my 2.5lb US bottle, there are 2 on the WON site, the maxflow and maxflow race spec, but it doesn't state the difference between them, can anybody enlighten me?

Hi Phil,

The standard Maxflow valve has a 'plain' dip tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle, for bottles that are mounted with the valve at the top.

The Race valves have a short dip tube with a billet alloy trumpet fitted to the end. The short tube is to enable the bottle to be mounted with the valve downwards and the trumpet prevents disruptive turbulence at the entry. The combined result is more dense and enhanced flow, plus it removes the need to purge the hose if the rest of the components are fitted appropriately.

We also offer a version that has a long dip tube with the addition of a trumpet but inverting the bottle and using a short tube is the best option

Thanks for the info. I went back to the valve page and realized i'd not scrolled down and completely missed where it does actually say most of what you just told me.
Bottle upside down would mean a longer hose and tricky valve access for me. I'll stick to right way/wrong way up for now.
Think i'll go for the standard one, gotta be better than the one that was on the bottle, it would open all on it's own sometimes .... was like that for years. Scares the hell out of ya when your sat there quiet and it starts going off.

Cheers
Phil

Unless you're intending to max out the flow of the system, a standard valve will be more than adequate.
