I was talking with my engine builder - and he asked if we could inject the nitrous directly through the head. Yamaha cast passages in the head that were never drilled. The passages couldbe machined and go directly to the back of the outboard intake valve for each cylinder.

Is this a good idea to try? Could this deliver more liquid nitrous in the cylinder? Is it worth a try - or would I be better off using discharge tubes through the throttle bodies?

That location would NOT be a good nitrous injection point because having the nitrous so close to the valves runs a high risk of reversion where the nitrous bounces off the valves and back out the induction system. It's better to use discharge tubes at the beginning of the runners because not only will they reduce the risk of reversion significantly, but also IMPROVE the airflow in the runner and ESPECIALLY improve the operation of a carb (if installed).
