Earlier this week James Rumsey fitted one of my systems to his AWESOME 1,200 HP Mitsubishi Evo 8 STREET CAR.

Yes that's right 1,200 hp from a 2,000 cc (122 ci) engine and just to put it in perspective, most Pro Mod engines fail to make much more than that without nitrous and they're over 700 ci.

Today we went to Shakey to set up the nitrous system and while he was waiting for me to turn up he ran a new PB (without nitrous) of 9.7 secs.

Unfortunately James told me his fuel system was almost maxed out, so to be safe I only supplied him with JUST 20 hp 'rich' jets. Despite this extreme extent of caution after the first test run, the data logger reported that the mixture was 'very' lean above 8,000 rpm and the car sounded like it was on the limiter towards the end of each gear, despite not actually reaching the rev limit.

We decided to do another stock run to ensure the problem was only nitrous related (which on only 20 hp seemed INSANE) but as the car crossed the finish line it sprouted a serious transmission oil leak that put an end to further testing.

Once again outstanding results were thwarted by factors outside my control.

For more details of the nitrous problem please see the Advanced section.

Agreed & yes he's expecting to have it sorted for next weekend for the Jap meet at the Pod, which is why it was important to get it sorted this weekend.

Unfortunately James had more than 'a niggle' this weekend!!!

After fitting a higher flow fuel system (that being the cause of the lean out the previous weekend), James did some testing OFF GAS to check it all out and unfortunately the engine let go BIG TIME!!!

He didn't even get to run it down the track without nitrous never mind with it, so it's an end to his efforts for this year but I've been assured he'll be back next year with everything much improved and able to handle whatever power we can produce.

Regards
