Is this just for the big boys, or is anyone using WON components welcome?

It would be awesome to make my first sub 14 pass in front of the Wizard himself!

(If I can!)

It's for all my customers Debs (most of my customers are street cars anyway) and I'd be very happy to assist you to produce your best results. ;)

Everyone is welcome, especially potential customers. ;)

Not sure of the cost but York is one of the cheapest events in the UK, so it should be well within your budget.

Try the York Dragway web site for exact details.

Hi All :)

Sorry guys but I wont be able to make it...after the drag racing yesterday , my timing belt tension light came on.....too much power I think lol...
Anyway I am going to have to change my belt, water pump and tension rollers etc....
Just as a matter of interest, a Porsche 928 timing belt is over 7 feet long and is the longest belt in the world lol :)

Would you believe Porsche main dealer wanted £1700 to do it....so I will do it myself but will take a few evenings....and wont be ready by Sunday unfortunately :(

Best of luck to all going and anyone going please take videos if you can as would love too see some afterwards...

All the best Brett :)

That's a shame but life is like that. :-(

You would have both done well at York, because although the pits are the pits, the track is very good for street cars.

£10 entrance per person and £25 to race all day.you need to bring your driving license and a crash helmet.they do have some crash helmets there but its better if you can bring your own.
look here for directions :-http://www.york-raceway.co.uk/aboutus.html

Does anyone have a web address or something for this place. I tried to find it while I was visiting family nearby last year. But it seems I was at the wrong place. I ended up at an airfield with an air museum. The guy at the museum entrance told me it wasnt York raceway. He told me it was down the road a bit, but I wouldnt find it as it wasnt signed up. I asked 3 people in the little village nearby, and they said they had not heard of York raceway, or York Dragstrip??
Just to the right of the museum enatrance was a big gate with a helicopter and a sign saying???? events limited. Cant remember the name.

It's reasonably easy to find, there are yellow signs giving directions once you get close. You know when your nearly at the entrance gate as the road is $rap...urm i mean undulating

come off the m62 at j37.head towards bridlington and its signposted from the roundabout with the bp station on the left hand side of it. 12 miles from the motorway.
think the nearest village is melbourne.

What time do we need to arrive for sign on?
And do you need to show your licence to race. I dont have mine at the moment. I have a receipt from the police to say they have taken it to put 3 points on it.
When you sign on, do they give you a wrist band to wear? Or do they just stick a number on the car window?

Urgent advice required, as its nearly 200 miles for me to bring the car, so I dont want to be told I cant run.

I will be attending this event even though I might not be able to use my nitrous oxide system or even race due to a low compression on piston number 5, in comparison to the other five its down quiet abit so no nitrous oxide injection for a while until its resolved, but even so I will attend to support the event. Does anyone know what type of licence you need to race on the strip at york?

I need to know if they number the car or give you a wristband, as my licence is at the DVLA at the mo for an update.
I do have a receipt for the licence from the plod. If they only number the car I can get someone else to sign on for me.

Mg,

I'll try and make time to call the track organiser (a very good friend of mine) tomorrow to see if he's OK with the receipt.

To the rest of you guys a normal street licence is all that's normally needed.

Also don't be put off by the weather as York Dragway has the best record for weather in the country and I've seen rain bouncing off the roads up to a 3 mile radius of the place yet the track itself has been dry.
That isn't to say it never gets rained off there, but it is far less likely than other tracks and Murt does his best to get things going again if he has to stop for rain.

Many years ago he held a drivers meeting after rain had stopped racing and the track was still wet, to see how many wanted to race in the wet. Unfortunately I was the ONLY person up for it, while the rest were all pussies and too scared.

If anyone needs anything please let us know in the next 2 days, so we can take it to the track with us.

We'll have plenty of general parts, complete systems and plenty of nitrous. Anyone who hasn't got nitrous and wants to try before you buy, will be able to try out our QUICK FIT KIT which can be fitted in approx. 10 mins and removed even quicker.

Hope to see you all there.

Regards

Thanks Trev
Jeannette already emailed me to say that there would be no problem with me racing. The big downer, and it really has pee'd me off. Is that I have to work tomorrow now, and I dont know what time I'll finish, or even if the job will run to Sunday.
Cant turn the job down either. It's one of those jobs that will pay for my diff locker repairs, and it wont show on the paying in book, if you know what I mean. At least I should have the B ready for thr Retro day with a working diff locker.
I would have loved you to see the B racing against that girly with the blue MGTF....You know the one, she reckons her car can do 14 seconds.
She'll be telling us next that she knows how to build engines or something!!!!

(runs and ducks for cover)
