Shame about that but we'll be pleased to see you if it works out for you.

That 14 sec Debs will be in the 13s on Sunday if I have my way. ;)

Had a call from the trailer company today, not only has someone crashed the car transporter that I normally use, someone has now crashed the trailer Fortunately there is a company just down the road that does them and even more fortunately I caught them before they closed at 10am!

My weekend plans were very nearly shattered

Very sorry to now say that I wont be able to get Yorkshire in time for this meeting, as my sister has sprung a surprise fathers day outing on me which does not leave me enough time to make my way up to the raceway. hope it all goes well for everyone else.

After seeing so many posts saying you guys couldn't make it, I was expecting a very poor turn out BUT I WAS AMAZED by how many customers did actually make it.

In the street car classes my customers out numbered other kits by at least 20:1 and the guy that was using a NOS kit informed me he had been intending to make the switch to WON but funds had dried up.

Unfortunately my customers experienced a high percentage of failures but unlike those using other kits they weren't engine/nitrous failure related problems, just drive shaft and diff failures from trying to put down so much torque.

We had just a sprinkling of rain for a few minutes and then the sun broke through and I ended up with a touch of sunburn.

I was however very disappointed that Debs didn't make it and I hope she didn't have any problems that caused that.

One things for sure, IF we ever get you lot to a meeting along with the guys that don't get involved on the forum, I'd need a team of 10 guys to cope.

Regards

Well, that was my very first visit to york raceway, and I have to say the atmosphere was class!!

It was great to meet you (Trevor, Ant and Dave) all face to face...and to have a bit crack.

Cheers (you three) for all your advice you gave me too. (needless to say I broke out the spanners as soon as I got back home up here in northumberland)

I was hoping to have bumped into a few more felow forumers but that will have to be for next time (somewhere??)

I have one MAJOR gripe however.....I didn't see a SINGLE Micra all day!!!! :x PAH! ("next time gadget...next time!)

Bleuuuurgghhhhh! The Capri was plauged by problems all day! Some reasonable 1/8 mile times for a shakedown, but the 1/4 were appaling! Only picked up 3mph in the last 1/8 mile!!! No nitrous used as the engine wasn't revving past 4000 and the gearbox was changing up really early! I was in 3rd long before the 1/8 mile. It was a good day, sorry I was a bit antisocial, the day is never long enough when you have issues! Thanks to Trev for making time to come over and see me

Best run was a 16.557 (pooooooor, but better than the 19.378 I posted on my first run!!!!!)

2.573 60ft
10.466 1/8
67.61 1/8
16.557 1/4
70.41 1/4

It was a pb though!! ;)

Sorry Tony not that I'm aware.

Dave, it was my pleasure and I wish I'd had more time to talk and possibly assist you but the guy with you seemed to talk a good talk, so I thought I'd better leave and let him get on with it. ;)

He must know something nobody else knows if he gets a response to his emails from any major performance company, as everyone I've ever spoken to says they've waited months and never had a reply.

Anyway a 16.5 isn't too bad for a 1st event, as many people don't even get down the track at the 1st attempt.

If I were you I'd ditch the twin carbs and fit a single Holley for a start, because the best you can hope for is that they'll work just as well as a single Holley but to achieve that you're in for a great deal of pain first, unless you're very lucky.

At least you got the job completed and made it to the track in quite a short space of time, which is an achievement in itself.

Regards

Tez,

There were approx. 20 bikes there and you'd have probably been quicker than all of them.

If I was 20 years younger I'd be up for more of these events but as it is, the less work I have to do the better these days and organising this type of event takes more effort in one day than a normal weeks work.

I'm in a very strange position, because thanks to the location and rapidly growing value of the properties I own, I could have retired any time in the past 5 years and earned MUCH MORE by doing nothing, than I do by working my ass off.
The only things that have kept me on my current path are;
1) my loyalty to my customers
2) my desire to see certain customers achieve their goals
3) to start a nitrous REVOlution

However as my health deteriorates with age (due to the abuse I've put my body through over the years, with numerous bone breaking and joint dislocating accidents), I'm being more and more tempted to do the "sensible thing", rather than the desireable thing, so rather than there being more of these WON race events, this could have been the last.

Anyone who is aware of the Euro Challenge I devised, promoted and organised some 10 years ago, will know that I've done more than most to encourage the best performance from European market street cars, so as much as I'd like to do an even better job now with a WON race series, I think I've already done my bit and we can only hope someone younger comes along to take over.

Regards

Thanks for that Tez but my guys like the 9 to 5 option, rather than the unlimited hours that it takes to run a business. The ONLY people in my immediate circle that could have taken on my business were my daughter Lisa and her husband Marty (they'd have done a great job together) but since they are in Malta and as Lisa is now a Mum, that's not a likely outcome, although we have discussed moving the business out there.

One way or another I intend to resolve this situation soon.

Trev.
You know you will end up being the first bloke to Nos a Mobo scooter dont you!!!
I'm really pee'd off I couldnt get down. Now I have to wait a year before the next one (hopefully).

Tony
I'll be at the Retro day come Hell or high water. If the diff locker isnt fixed, I'll race on one rear wheel mate. But I must admit, my BFG's are looking rahter odd following the last few burnout tests. The drivers side is all gooey and sticky and the other side is smooth as a baby's bum due to lack of use in the puddle.

This will be the second annual event for my very own MG Drag Racing Club, and I cant miss it. it's a rapidly growing club, with nearly 5 members now, he he !!

I am slowly seducing the MGB fraternity to the dark art of Nitrous. I'm just knocking up a prototype kit for the MGB B series engine. But I havent found anyone with the balls to go for one yet.

Its only a couple of crossfires bolted to the standard mani, and I have a spare good 1800cc engine to donate to the first person at the MG owners club who wants to have a go, so they dont have to stress thewir own engine.

Stay with us Trev. I'm just getting the hang of this stuff, and I want my old 3500 in the 11's this year.
Once she hits the 11's, its all coming out to go into a Ford Fiesta so I can shove the new 4.6 in the MG.

Looks like one of my garage lists Dave. I use the front of the freezer as a white board now. I nick the wifes white baord markers for my own white board.
