is it built to be optimised for nos? ie low compression?
It is built for some SERIOUS amounts of nitrous and is probably the only motor in the UK, that has ever been.

i bet the torque could rip your face off without any nos
Mere mortals like you and I can only 'try' to imagine what that must feel like.

Martin,

Can you please post more pics of the nitrous set up as I'm intrigued as to how you've mounted the nitrous Pulsoids.

Also remind me to send you some new Pulsoid stickers when I send you the Pulsoids you need.

Drop me an email and I'll send you a CAD of the latest Pro Mod REVO system we're working on, as you could be the first UK customer to get the chance to use this technology.

Well spotted! The nitrous pulsoids aren't actually mounted to anything yet............. If you look carefully there are some green cable ties holding one in place whilst the other is propped up by a pencil.. :omgrofl: Now, obviously this is not a permanent fixing  and there will be a mounting bracket welded to the fuel rail.

I'll drop you a mail later Trev- better go, late for work!!!

Busy,Busy,Busy.............

At last, the pistons "should" be dispatched this week......Fingers crossed!

I've been busy finishing all the remaining fab work on the car, whilst Fatty and the rest of the crew have been re-doing the interior on the FB Battle bus.It now has a flat floor at the front (before it had a central walkway with a raised section either side where the seats went) and all new seating etc...

One bank of the nitrous system is done, bar adding the return bleed to the tank and I've got most of the parts made for the other side, just got to weld 'em up.
I also found out the bonnet wouldn't fit....... the wing nut on the rear air filter was hitting the scoop.
Broke out the welder (again!) and modded the filter lids so the nuts are recessed (see photos).

We've set our sights on being ready for the Bug Jam at the 'Pod in july................

Please tell me Mr Kerr, what exactly do the initials "LPMB" inscribed on the Pulsoid mounts actually stand for :?: . I am, indeed, intrigued :? to say the very least as must be all those who deign to visit these hallowed pages to peruse your truly magnificent workmanship.
Good day to you.

LPMB stands for "Little Pair Of Monkey Bollocks", As you well know Fatty!!!!!!

Eons ago(the early '90s), there was a comedy series on TV called "Harry Enfield's Television Programme" and several of the episodes contained clips called "Victorian Rude Garden".
These clips had Paul Whitehouse talking about various root vegetables etc that looked a bit anatomical!
One such clip had Mr Whitehouse describing a tulip whose bulbs "Look just like a little pair of monkey bollocks"
If you study the photos of the pulsoid mounts..............LPMB

We're on with optimising the Pulsoids for the Fat Boys now, so they must be close now to need those.

Good news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've got the crank back from balancing(Friday)- took a lot longer than expected (no surprise there, then). It had to have material welded to the edges of the counterweights to get it to balance  This is due to: a/ It has been balanced before (for our last engine) and b/ the new combo has much longer and beefier rods and slightly taller pistons (both heavier than before).

Anyhow..... I've been a busy boy  The bottom end is assembled and everything fitted first time!
The upper part of the 2-piece sump needed about 10 mins work to clearance it for rod bolts and is now fitted. I need to make a windage screen before fitting the lower pan.

The heads are assembled and will probably be fitted Tuesday evening (then there will be a couple of hours frigging around with pushrod guide plates to get the rockers to line up- thank God that only has to be done once!) followed by fitting everything else- dry sump system, water pump, engine plate etc.

I'm going to leave the intake off until we've fitted the engine into the car, 'cos it's so bloody tall the crane won't go high enough to lift it off the engine stand with it fitted.
8)

Pictures to follow when I've got a bit of spare time!!! ................

Two days to go before we leave for the 'Pod :!:

It now looks complete except for the headers. The radiator is in and all the hoses connected, throttle connected, HT leads fitted, fuel lines done. There is still quite a list of bits and bobs left though (saying that, to actually have only ONE list MUST be good?)

I'm going to be working flat out tomorrow night, Weds night and Thurs am to get as much done as I can. Anything left will have to wait until we arrive at the 'Pod .................Then (I hope) comes the FIRE UP

How are the pulsoids looking Trev? if they won't be ready, dont sweat it,I can cap the fuel feeds easily enough and to be honest I think we will have our hands full just ironing the new car/combo bugs out anyway...........

Two weeks ago I was thinking we didn't have a chance of making this meeting, but it just proves even I can be wrong sometimes

It certainly is and well done on achieving what you've managed so far.

I think they're done but it's probably better that I keep them till after this meeting, as you might be tempted to PREMATURELY use them. ;)

LOL - surely not!!!

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

All in all a very busy, but worthwhile weekend, even if we didn't make it down the track......(damn the "summer" weather).........

We arrived at the 'pod thursday evening (in the rain), got ourselves set up and had a few (well deserved) beers.
Friday morning arrived (too early!) and it's time to prepare for the initial fire-up 8) .I pulled the spark plugs to be greeted by a torrent of water from 5 of the 8 cyls  We are running silicone coated copper gaskets, and in our case they hadn't sealed  The decision was made to try to run the motor up to temperature so the heads could be retorqued, to see if that would seat the gaskets  However, by the time we had got some heat in the oil, water was already dribbling from a couple of plug holes.........4 hours later........the heads are now back on and appear to be holding water  plug in the heaters, prime the oil system and..........It fired up after two or three seconds on the starter  We had to shut it down before full warm up due to an oil leak(flood) from the remote oil filter housing (damaged thread)
We managed to locate an oil filter housing Saturday morning and after an hour we're ready to try again..........no more problems  we ran it until the fans cut in, and again in the afternoon, then left it to cool overnight.
Sunday morning was a 7.00am start for us  Re-torque the heads, re-set the valve lash, put the warmers on etc. We were about 15 minutes from our first pass of the year when the rain came...........and that was the end of the weekend.

Pictures of the build-up and weekend to follow........

Brain.
