NITROUS OXIDE ( nos / n2o ) advice forum

Hi All

I will be doing the Supercar Startup day at Beaulieu (Motor Museum) on the 29th August... http://www.beaulieu.co.uk/beaulieu-events/supercar-startup

They have even created a mini dragstrip for Supercars to start and run a 365 metre straight course for the crowds...

This is the first time they have ever run a "strip" for the crowds...

I had a chat with them today and they "think" that drivers can safely get to 60 mph and then stop safely lol... basically its a standing 1/8 so I might just reach a little more than 60

There is also a "Rev up" done with a Decibel meter, so I might have a chance with that as well

Be good to see any of you there.... if you are in the South on that day...

As usual I will be giving out Wizards leaflets to the unitiated and kids

Received the pack today.....

Obviously only superior cars with Wizards of Nos Nitrous systems get such treatment lol....

Note the bit where it says "NOT A RACE" lol.... I suspect they and I might have different ideas about that....I am taking my Race suit and helmet and only ever do that if I am racing with Nitrous

They are even providing free nosh and drinks

All you need to do is get that Smart with a major WON Nitrous system on it and a nice Black/Yellow paint job and id bet they would have you... I could always have a word with them

I did this today and to be honest it was a joke..

They wouldnt let me run on their baby 200 metre strip as my car was "Modified" and their Insurance wouldnt allow it (even though they agreed to it in advance).... when I said most of the cars there were chipped or modified the health and safety guy said " oh are they, I dont know anything about cars" at that point I gave up.

Most of the day I just chatted to people , gave out WON leaflets, and let their kids sit in the Race seat etc...

I seriously doubt I will go there again lol...

It could have been that or it may have been that they are such an old fashioned place that they were actually scared of the Nitrous...maybe they thought the bottles may explode or something similar....

I would bet that Trev has come across this sort of fear or weirdness before though lol..

I had similar comments at the BMW show

I got banned from that drag strip in somerset or Hampshire last year. It was at a baracks I think. I paid up front with all the car details etc... Then at the last minute they said I couldnt run because the MG was too quick for their track ??

I dont think i got my money back either, even though i emailed them for a refund???

Never mind Brett. I'm sure we will find a non shakey / Pod strip somewhere that will let us run one day. What are they frightened of ???

That one of their £500k show cars wont run 200mph or 10 seconds???

We should look at getting our cars to North Weald airstrip in Essex next year. As long as you pass scrutineering you can run. And exhaust noise isnt an issue as open piopes are allowed.

Then we can give it the beans on an old airstrip where everyone appreciates a modified car ???

This COULD be the 2012 WON user event !!!

Worth thinking about eh ???

They didnt actually do a sound off as such.....

A couple of the Ferraris and the Zonda revved up a few times, then the ford van with the cossie race engine then me.... to teach them all a lesson lol...

The Ford van came close but I was louder , plus I had the twin purge lol.... I even got a round of applause from the crowd
