For approximately a decade now, the Pro Street class has been DOMINATED by turbo bikes, to the total exclusion of nitrous bikes being raced in the class, until Cecil Towner took up the challenge a couple of years ago.

To give the nitrous bikes A BIT of a fighting chance, the class rules were gradually tilted in favour of nitrous bikes and Cecil recognised that with the benefit of the advanced nitrous technology available from WON, he could exploit these latest rules to his advantage.

It's long been claimed that NO Pro Street bike (even a turbo bike) could ever run in the 6s, least of all a nitrous assisted bike but despite this AWESOME time of 6.90 and as hard as it will be for most people to accept, Cecil is still JUST SCRATCHING THE SURFACE of what he'll be able to achieve using WON assist, because whatever he runs using pulsed technology, both he and I know he will run much quicker when he eventually finds time to upgrade to a REVO system.

There's no doubt now that the rules will be changed for next season, as the turbo boys won't be happy to see the roles reversed for ANY period of time, despite being happy to have it all their own way for 10 years but contrary to expectation, I'll be VERY HAPPY if they move to comparable rules for all bikes in the class, as I'd be happier to see Cecil beat the turbo's on equal terms, so that the arseholes out there can't put down the achievement by claiming the turbo bikes are handicapped.

been sayin the bike had it in it all along. i bet its got 70s in it with a set of revo's and leaving a little harder. that was "only" a 1.20 short time. (according to the video) Now that he got Tim Hay's money he should put a rock clutch in and go 1.0x's LOL. very impressive for sure still. cant wait to see what happens next year when they "slow them down" turbos can read'em and weep!

Y yes the rules were greatly on favor of nitrous. Until won got in the game nitrous wasn't really competitive with the turbos. They were given extra inches no weight limit and slider clutches as well as allowed to be an inch lower.

that is changing next season though, and personally I don't think it should

Being as turbo bikes have had it their own way for so long, to be fair the rules should remain the same, because nobody changed the rules the first year a turbo won the class and probably didn't do so for a few years after.

Furthermore, having just one company/bike using nitrous beating ALL the turbo's and then changing the rules, means that ALL the other nitrous bikes will have NO CHANCE AT ALL, so that's not really fair - SHAME!!!! :twisted:

HOWEVER, I'm all in favour of the nitrous bikes losing at least some of their advantages for the following reasons;
1) Cecil can still run MUCH quicker.
2) As things stand, the turbo 'boys' will always fall back on the fact that they are being handicapped, so no matter what a nitrous bike produces, the turbo 'boys' will never acknowledge they were out gunned.
3) The harder it is to win, the greater the achievement when you do.
4) The harder it is for nitrous bikes to compete the MORE OBVIOUS it will be that WON nitrous systems are head and shoulders above the rest, as any nitrous bike not using a WON system will have NO CHANCE of competing. :twisted:
