It was a good day out eh Steve??
It was a very close run around those barrels. This is something a lot of us on here can have a go at. I reckon young Sam would do well with his little white terror
To put this event in perspective for you other WON guys out there:
It costs £25 quid to enter.
Its at Santapod in an area set aside for us in the pits.
You leave the startline witha flag start.
You have to run the 100m course going around 3 barrels.
You must go around at least one barrel in the opposite direction to another barrel. Thats it !!
First across the finish line wins......
This event get dominated by powerful drift cars. But we are starting to see small front wheel drive cars catching the drift boys
And Stu's little MG Midget with only 100hp ish and rear wheel drive got them very worried.
Example:... Quickest pro drift car run was 20.90 ish seconds. Stu got 22 seconds. I got 25 seconds as a PB and Steves old Skoda popped a 23 second pass.
This was only the second event for the barrel sprint and I can see a big split coming real soon. RWD class and FWD class.
I'll talk to the organiser to see if we can get this official so the FWD boys get a look in on the podium at the end of the day.
If they dont split FWD and RWD I can see a 60hp Fiat Panda whooping the ass of a 300hp drift car around those plastic drums and across the finish line. A small, light FWD with a sniff of gas to get it away quick to the first barrel and with a tight turning circle around the barrels and then a sniff of gas to get from the last barrel to the finish is going to make history in 2012 I think ??
And it makes a change from drag racing for the odd day out.
Another good thing about the barrel sprint is that James who organises the gig gets the event running at major pod show days, so we get good exposure.
It would be so funny to see a little fwd car with ~WON stickers trashing the big boys
