I'm taking the MG to the rolling road on Thursday.

I'm hoping that she will do a good chunk over 400hp. But my slicks dont like the dyno as they get quite hot so I will have to keep an eye on them as I need to race 3 more times this year.

My guess at this time is that she will run ok on boost to give me a dyno plot. But when the nitrous is used I think the tyres may complain. Any guesses as to the Dyno figures?? Car weighs 2600 lbs with me in it. She runs 9.6 on the 1/4 mile at the moment?

Damn, that must be quite something to see on the Dyno!

Could you take a short video and post it up, would just to see how the Nitrous kicks in, power must be insane when it does!

It's a shame you aren't closer if not i'd pop down, but all the best for Thursday

I'll try to remember the camera. On the dyno the nitrous setting is very soft. I'm starting with a 100 shot, but that will be 30hp with the rest coming in over 3-4 seconds so as not to upset the tyres :)

If that goes ok I'll put the 175 jets back in and do the same 30hp start but increase build time to 5 or 6 seconds.

On the track I have it set at 100hp off the line with the other 75 coming in over 0.8 of a second. 8)

I have to admit to wimping out on the dyno today !!

I ran the ign timing 7 degree's retarded from what (on paper) I should have run.

Long story short!
I was on the dyno for 3 hours and did a few runs to set stuff up;.

Then I did a full power pull. It was going ok until the rear wheels hit 147mph. The slicks ballooned as they do, and one of them clipped the inner wing and got smoky. So Martin aborted the run. But the run was almost over anyway so I'm not bothered.

Results:
11psi of boost = 383hp with 495 ft/lbs

11psi with a 175 shot = 526hp with 544 ft/lbs

That is just mental!!!

As you say it was going ok, but I didn't expect that much smoke from the offside rear though!
I thought it was going to be just a little, suprised the fire brigade wasn't called

Thanks for posting it up, the noise is just incredible!

Hi Pel :)

Nice run... I would have guessed pre dyno at between 600 and 800 hp.... depending on how brave you were with the Nitrous...lol

I have seen a few dyno runs that had probelms with slicks and bodywork :( .... next time, ordinary road tyres...even if worn.... and I would bet well over 600...

All the best Brett :)

My thoughts as well Brett!!
I'm going to find some 8 x 15 road tyres for next year as the slicks really do not like the dyno. But at least I now have some data to play with on track tomorrow re shift points. I'll fit a spare set of rims with worn slicks on as the damage is too much to risk i think. I'm not sure that we can expect much from the track now due to the weather being iffy??

Pel

Despite getting the tyres nice and sticky today. The track wasnt that good. What was good was the amount of grunt the engine has now with the advanced timing. blew the tyres away off the line and hit the shift light in the 60 foot. I shifted up and eased back on it for a second and then full pedal. Then I was rally driving in 2nd gear. Backed out and shifted to 3rd and got back on the gas. Wheelspin for a second and then she got a grip. And boy did she take off fast. I had most of 3rd gear at full throttle with good traction. And to be honest I was happy with a 10.1 for this run at 134mph. The car has so much more grunt now its amazing. my 9.6 runs have all been 137mph with a good hook up and good grip all through the runs.

So I think I'm heading in the right direction again for next year.

A couple of years ago I wouldnt have dreamt that I'd be moaning about a 10.1
