With the Rapid I am suffering from TOO much squat when I hit the power!

The tires have no spare clearance and to change the body would require me to tub the body and change the spring/shock mount (mcpherson style in the back)

I have wondered about coil over but found these guys http://www.coilsprings.co.uk who might help with slightly longer stiffer springs.

Again I am moving away from my areas of knowledge so need a bit of assistance ! :?

I've got a £5 solution for you to try. Have you seen those rubber inserts that go in the coil and are designed for towing caravans? They are perfect, I put some on my car so the rear didn't bottom out when I had fat people in the boot.

Yes those - It is appreciated guys and I DO listen. BUT The rubber inserts screw the cornering more than a 'proper' spring giving the same height. We used them on an old Volvo 245 and this went from a sagging back end to a car that made you seasick but was at the correct height.

Problem is I need to lift the back 35-40mm AND stop the squat. The inserts will stop the squat but I have found (on other cars) that they mess up the cornering of the car and don't lift the car. I am thinking of trying them however I am looking at the right spring if I can.

I use it on twisty stuff as well as straight stuff so want to fix the problem and not need to take things in and out of the springs.

The springs on the car are stiffer than the originals - I could put the inserts onto original springs but as I would have to buy a set (as there arn't any in the scrap yard and the others I had have already gone) A it more cash would get the exact ones wanted.

I am thinking of modifying the back end to accept some coilovers but I am exploring other possibilities as well

"they mess up the cornering "

I thought it was only me who took left and right turns midway up the strip Stevie

I know what you meant though. These would only be a 1/4 mile bandaid on your car and not a lot of cop on the road.

When you get your finger out and do some measuring, I've got a set of 4 coilovers in the shed from a Jag XJS!!
And some assorted Hard rally coil springs at about 9" high by around 3" which are under something in the garage somewhere ?? :D

WHat was it - 'you build it and they will turn up' or summat?

I will get some measurements asap.

Just got a response from some guys and they want £125 + Vat for 2 springs - not too bad but certainly a bit over budget!

I also have a spare set of hard springs, they have a flat top and bottom and an inside diameter of 2 1/4 inch. Measure your factory springs for size. If they fit they're yours as I have no use for them.
