Hi All,
soory i have been away a looooooong time,
losing sponsors and the car being axle less has driven me to the brink of bankrupcy,

this is what happened to the rear end with the new engine with NO gas,
Image

it hooked up that well it also broke the axle mounts, and pulled it off the springs,
Image

Slowly getting back on our feet now money wise, Thanks to Pel for rebuilding my pulsoids FOC. i owe you one mate,
and after selling a few odds and sods and selling advertising space on the website i bought this baby,
Image
Mustang 8.8" LSD axle,

after a few measurements we found it to be too wide :loser:
SO after a few phone calls to a few race car builders, the axle was boxed up and shipped to Andy Robbinson,
where this came back, a narrowed 8.8 axle, c clips removed and 9" bearing ends fitted to the axle tubes, and a pair of Strange Engineering forged custom made racing shafts

The car is also now back on gas, and the test resulst so far seem very interesting,
running a 75 shot on a 3.5 ramp up, and she accelerates like a rocket in every gear then lights the tyres up when the gas kicks in, 1st to 4th,

Roll on Classic Ford this sunday at the pod, looks like the rear end and the drag radials are in for a work out

P.S on the look out for new sponsors if anyone knows of any

No probs with the pulsoids mate. I had the spares in the box and you are more than welcome.

I wont be there on sunday so I'll leave those bits for you in the Blackett Photography cabin. Just ask Ian or Paulla for the envelope that Perry left with them..

Keep us posted mate. I cant see why you shouildnt be knock knock knocking on 11's door on sunday. Then you can start to wind up the power and join me in the 10's

Thanks for the welcome back,

going to try for an 11 Pel, but 12's will do me for now Trev ;)

will pop up before Retro Pel so we can do some testing and possibly get her back on a 150 shot for that weekend,
the maximiser is wired to the ecu ready for any retard needed,

Also im now the owner of another ported efi manifold, and thinking about port injecting the nitrous instead of injecting it into the plenum, good /bad?

wow been a long time since an update,
yes me and the car still alive, had ecu gremlins again etc,

now changed ecu supplier, Running megasquirt by Phil Ringwood, and last year the car ran sweet on the road after a few hiccups,
never managed to get any track time in, but had a faultless year,
The paxton charger got sold on as was too big to fit in my engine bay,

This made way for the new rotrex C38-91 charger and RV8/TVR fitting kit,
and Cossie RS500 intercooler,

Will need to trim the side brackets down it will then just squeze into the front grill area, need to buy some different cooling fans though
as the current ones are fitted to the front of the rad,

Image

Bonnet panel area trimmed out to clear intercooler outlets,
and cooler bolted in on its own mounts now into inner wings,
Image

Upgrading from stock coilpacks to Accel ones,
Image

And the new charger set up

Lovely job on the wiring, it often gets overlooked. Shame about the engine failure but nice to see you still working towards the 11's!.

I was making good inroads to an 11 second run with my GTO but clutch problems haunted me for a year and I got fed up too!, hopefully will happen this year with less agressive launching and flat shifting with some WON nitrous to make up the short fall!.

Good luck and keep your chin up!.

Bloody Hell!!

Is it 2 years already Tony.

I guess it is eh?

I now remember you limping home from the Pod with the rear axle mounts all torn up..

But thats all behind you now. You now have a rear end that will take some hard abuse (the car that is, not you!) And you will have an engine that should perform well on boost even before we turn the nitrous back on :)

Leave it manual for the time being though. We can discuss the possibility of going to auto when we next meet. Its not a massive job to convert to auto mate.

I'm in the same boat as you at this time. I'm trimming the engine tune on boost for the next few months. With a bit of luck I'll drop back to my old PB times of low 10's...... Then WoN will take me cruising into 9 second glory for 2013

we should be moving to the new house in the next few weeks,
i can then get the charger bolted on etc and get the intake pipes made,
can then get the ecu sent off and upgraded to run semi seqen, can then do some testing then the boys from SC Power are coming down to the pod with different pulleys so we can see the best one to use then the gas,
think next upgrade is going to be forged pistons and clutch lol,
The guys are 98% certain with the current charger setup and pulley we should see around 450+ bhp and 500+ft lb torque
on there fairly stock 5.0 TVR test motor they got 452 bhp and 502 ft lb

I reckon the Cappa should hold on to 450hp with the lower torque on boost. But when you add the gas you know only too well that the torque figure is going to fly out of the window Tony ?? :)

Thats when your LT77 is going to complain I think? You are using an LT77 arent you?

Trickys TR7 kept knacking 3rd gear on his LT boxes when we added nitrous. We never got to do a dyno pull on gas with the TR. His 5.2 RV8 ran 312hp on carb only with CR at 8:1 as the engine was built to be blown or gassed. Each time we stuck a 50 shot on it would pull a low 11 but it was a handfull it creamed his gearbox...

I cant see why the Cappa wont run hard into the 11's this year as long as the pistons hold out mate.

Cant wait to asee the Cappa out on track again. Its been too long Dude ;)

Respect
Pel

Cheers Pel,

Nope i ditched the LT77 3 yrs ago in favour of the much stronger R380 box 8)

A little update of the work going on:

New rad and new fans, and the start of the new ally mounting brackets,
(old steel brackets were old and heavy)
Image

Brackets nearly finished, corners need radiusing off,
and the lower bracket will be made to fit once rad is sat in place to make sure its a nice snug fit and its supporting the rad.
Image

Had to cut out more of the lower valance support to clear the fans and rad,
Image

Hoses all still fit thank god !!
Image

How much we had to cut out in the end to clear the fans and rad,
Image

As promised,
glad we bolted it up today as found a couple of issues,
as in bolt holes not drilled and threaded in the brackets,
holes full of weld,
and the boss on the charger maybe too long and holding the brackets apart and not letting everything sit true.

sorry not been about, what a year,
the supercharger has been back 3 times for issues, and the last time due to it seizing on initial start up,
So yup the car has not left the garage at all this year,
BUT after a lengthy fight managed to get a warranty replacement,
and this is how things look today,

Image

and a short vid , ignore the rattling the belt tensioner came undone :-(

not sure to be honest mate,
not sure if to go crossfire into the intake hose again, or go direct into the manifold or similar,
any recommendations??

Unless you're intending to add big numbers, a single Crossfire would probably do the job.

What a year,

car came back to the track in June at the classic ford day at santapod, with Perry as my pit bitch we attacked the strip again after a few years away,
best to date was a 13.1, with gas,

First run and not knowing what was going to happen healthy burnout mild launch a 1.9 60ft which I was pleased with and a 13.001 FFS still cant break out of the soddin 13's even supercharged,

Back round for run 2:
Perry held me for a stronger burn out and by f@@k it was a biggy, staged, 1.8 60ft 12.83 YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOO out of the 13's at last,

Back round for a 3rd run and getting greedy now lol,
Perry held us for even bigger burn out (don't my drag radials know it now),
staged, a harder launch, 1.8 60ft clutch slip mid track 12.73 heading in the right direction, time to pack up.

2 weeks later: Retro show santapod, (new clutch cable)
Run1: hard burn out staged hard launch 1.7 60ft 12.39, ran even quicker than 2 weeks ago with nothing done to the car except a clutch cable,
Run 2: hard burn out, hard launch 1.6 60ft 12.38 slight clutch slip, so close to the 11's.

3 weeks later Avon Park (shakey),
Run 1: hard burn out, hard launch wheel span 1st to 3rd on drag radials, 1.7 60ft 12.4, if only it didn't spin,
Run 2: hard burn out hard launch hit rev limiter due to wheel spin missed 2nd gear totally ballsed it up 1.9 60ft 12.7,

Packed up and watched the racing as was nearly end of play,

SO at last I have a 12s street car, hoping (with Perrys help) over the winter to start putting some gas back I nto the ole gal and see what happens,

P.S would like to say a big thank you to Perry for his help over the past few months at the track with the car as we are ironing out a few glitches with the setup.
