NITROUS OXIDE ( nos / n2o ) advice forum

Hi everyone,

I wondered if anyone knows of any apps (iPhone, android etc) that locate your local filling station?

If not, do you think this would be useful?

I'm an app developer and i was thinking this might be quite a good app for fellow nitrous users! (and a nice little project for me )

I was thinking the following features would be useful-

-search by town/city
-search by postcode
-search nearest to my location

Selecting a result would display it on a map.

The only thing I would need to do this would be a list of filling stations in the Uk.

What does everyone think?

Can't see it getting many hits on the app store but could be useful for us


There was a thread with a list of places where people get fills and I wouldn't take the won dealers section as most don't deal with nitrous any more

Well the "Pros" around my way charge over £11 per lb..

An amateur like me who does it for local friends and Nitrous users charges £6.00 per lb...

The app will be free, and hopefully just act as a useful tool for us nitrous users.

It should answer the "Where is the closest filling station to me?" question!

it seems difficult to find an up-to-date list of filling stations at present.

I am currently putting together the database, i'm using the agents section on the WON site as well as the re-fills thread, if anyone knows of any other good sources please let me know.

I guess it will just be a case of removing out of date ones and adding new ones as and when I find out about them, which will hopefully leave us with a nice useful database.

That's where I get mind done and let you watch and have a pump and scales are on view so you know you get a decent fill and it's about 6.50 per lb

Thats a good point....

Put in the App whether the filler has a Pump and Scales....and whether you can watch or have to leave the bottle...

I have digital scales and people can watch but no pump...(freeze method)

Apologies i've been away for ages! Ended up working on another idea which was bought by Sony!

So i've been busy.

Anyway, I really want to get this app built. Any i've got it designed.

The major problem is getting an up to date list of all filling stations (which is the problem the app is trying to solve).

So i've decided to add a form within the app where you can submit a filling station which will then get added to the database, alternatively, if a filling station is listed within the app that is no longer trading you can report it and it will be removed from the database.

So i guess, the more people that download and use the app, the better the data will be.

Would people do their part do we think? Or will the app just flop because nobody updates it?!

Its success or failure lies in the hands of the users!

I would think most fillers would add themselves and also check local fillers to add or delete ones no longer filling...I certainly would...
