Hi All

I like my 928 to be a little unusual or even unique, so I am considering either GULL WING or SCISSOR (LAMBO) doors…

I have done some research, but would also like any input from anyone here…

Good idea, bad idea?

Opinions on the concept or opinions on the actual engineering (strength of roof or hinge panel) , or suppliers etc etc.. ?

Seen some lambo type doors on golfs and the like. Dunno if it might be considered a little 'chavvy'?

I'll second the suicide doors - would look great on the 928 and would have to weigh heaps less that either of the other conversions?

Hi All

The problem I am having with ANY door types is this....

Having spoken to a lot of the pros at designing and fitting various kits, they all say one thing...

Although the kits have steel hinges and bolts.....you MUST weld them as well... or they WILL move and leak and not close etc etc...

Now comes my problem...my 928 is mostly aluminum ..in particular both front and rear hinge panels and lock panel....

Now I am a fair welder, but even I cannot weld ally to steel

Any further suggestions would be welcome ?

Nope, my ally doors are part of the structural strength of the car, as its mostly ally apart from the roof and rear quarters (galvanised steel)
