Hi All  I like my 928 to be a little unusual or even unique, so I am considering either GULL WING or SCISSOR (LAMBO) doors… I have done some research, but would also like any input from anyone here… Good idea, bad idea? Opinions on the concept or opinions on the actual engineering (strength of roof or hinge panel) , or suppliers etc etc.. ? All the best Brett

Hard to tell. You have to like it. I would never do one of those. Maybe if i hab a Honda. But on an old Porsche??? |

Seen some lambo type doors on golfs and the like. Dunno if it might be considered a little 'chavvy'? There is a company that sell kits, clicky here http://www.lambodoorkits.co.uk/index.php

Nah!!! Not on the Porka mate!! Lambo doors!! Chav central  Gull wing doors! A large engineering project You are old skool Brett just like me. So if it has to be a door mod. Then its gotta be Suicide doors mate

I'll second the suicide doors - would look great on the 928 and would have to weigh heaps less that either of the other conversions? Sam |

Hi All The problem I am having with ANY door types is this.... Having spoken to a lot of the pros at designing and fitting various kits, they all say one thing... Although the kits have steel hinges and bolts.....you MUST weld them as well... or they WILL move and leak and not close etc etc... Now comes my problem...my 928 is mostly aluminum  ..in particular both front and rear hinge panels and lock panel....Now I am a fair welder, but even I cannot weld ally to steel Any further suggestions would be welcome ?
