I have just bouht a new mod, its a quaife diff. I am hoping it will take off average of 0.2 seconds off my time or do you fink this is an unrealistic time to get with a lsd box. was also finking of putting on some solid rear shocks and raising the rear end

Cheapest and easiest (usually) is to remove weight. Remove anything not needed for the quarter. You'd be surprised how much quicker you will go.

Hey Sam - heres the solution - http://www.justgofaster.com/Default.aspx?tabid=61

:P

But seriously - yeah 60ft and getting off the line. It is an issue with fwd!

Cut lots off the E/T of the fabia with better tyres and a proper burn out thanks to some pointers from Pel!

Those tyres tend to be quite hard on the sidewalls so you dont get the same effect as a drag slick rippling and helping soften the hit off the line re traction loss.

Having said that, if you can get them soft with tyres softener and get them hot in a good burnout and hit the right tyre pressure they can perform well on the 1/4.

My rule of thumb for these tyres is to let air out until the whole tread width is flat on the floor. Then check tyre pressure and hopefully it wont be lower than 20psi cold. If it is then pump then up to 20psi. After a good burnout the tyre pressure may be up by 1-2 psi. These normally run 35-40psi for track use for cornering.

I dont like to run fronts too low as they can be a bit unstable for the braking zone. This is stuff you have to experiment with.

If you get the tyres to do their job off the line you should be able to pull your 60 foots down to 2 seconds at least given the weight of your car. If all runs well after that your 12.9 could be in the bag :)

An lsd and some tyre additives should get you into the 12's.

The 'Grip' tyre additve works well for drag racing with tyres like 888's, 048's etc etc ;)

I have got some of that ''Grip'' stuff. a lad at work that does go karting told me to use it and gave it to me to try for the drag strip. I have never used it as didnt know what it would do to the tyre, i didnt want it to melt it or damage the tyre as i use them on the road and they where exspenive to

Does any one know what the grip addative does to the tyre ie will it damage / ruining my tyres. and is it any good

Sam!
The Grip Tyre Softener does a short term job of making the tread more sticky. After some road miles it wears off so it wont ruin your rubber mate.

I normally do 3 coats with a few hours in between. The tyres should then ideally be left for a few days before racing.

Thats the best way mate!!

Can you find a set of rims and cheapy tyres for the front??

You can drive back on your race tyres when the day is over :)

KEEP THE CAR WINDOWS CRACKED AND PLENTY OF FRESH AIR IN FROM THE HEATER SO YOU HAVE A GOOD AIR CHANGE RATE IN THE CABIN.

The A048 as mentioned are a very firm sidewall, not a great choice for drag racing TBH.

You should be able to get a 2.0 or better 60ft with just the diff and some better tyres, and that will take way more than 0.2 off your ET
