Hi.
I have been asked to build a purge kit using a old style Wizard blue Solenoid.
I plan to use CO2 for his imitation purge kit.
The bottles you can buy from halfords and are the welding ones similar to the ones in the photo.
what connections do I require to connect these small bottles to a Won solenoid?
Do Won do a connection ready for connection to the pvc black pipe.
Many thanks.

Those look to be a mix of argon and CO2 so it may only be gaseous CO2 which wouldn't be any good as a purge.

If they do contain LIQUID CO2 or you get hold of that in some other container, we'd need to know what thread is on it to determine what fitting would be needed.

We normally supply a standard nitrous bottle and customers get the refilled just as they do with nitrous, so we've never had to marry up to that kind of bottle before.

Yes ignore that photo as those bottles have argon in them.
The actual ones I plan to use only have liquid co2 only.
When using the regulator that fits them on a mig welder it only gives off a very small stream of gas.

To get the liquid as there welding bottles you do have to turn them upside down but my bench tests have been successful.
I just need to get the bottle fitting sorted out.
According to my research the bottles have a Standard 1/8" BSP canister valve fitting.
At the moment I have modified a original welding regulator to draw the liquid. I removed all the insides and silver soldered it up so its a simple adaptor with no control what so ever. Not ideal but its working for tests.
I do really need a valve so I can turn it off.
Would Won be able to help me with this as I would like to put this kit together to sell as a complete imitation purge kit using Won equipment and these freely available CO2 bottles.

One of these will do the job and we can add a suitable adaptor to attach the pipe to;

On those bottles there's valve in the bottle fitting itself which needs pressing in when the reg/pipe/fitting is screwed on the bottle, so for maximum flow you'd need to make a special fitting on the end of the tap.

The problem with those bottles is that they only hold about 300-400 grammes of liquid (approx 14oz). So you will only get a few decent purges from them. And they are disposable because nobody wants to refill them. I've tried.
Halfords also charge about £13- £15 for those bottles. There are hobby suppliers who will refill larger bottles of 3kg for about £18 though.
You can buy a 2kg co2 extingusher for £25 online so that would be a much cheaper way to start I reckon and you stand a much better chance of getting an approved extinguisher refilled ??

Just a thought :D
