Its no good - I've GOT to post my WON install. Hopefully you guys don't mind me sharing my Skoda AGAIN! :beatstick:  But I am so pleased with the way it performs!

Its not as pretty as the other cars and is probably the lowest horsepower of any other car here (54bhp as standard) but I like it. It is not quite the rustiest around the forum but only just.

I originally bought it as a cheap run around for my parents in 2003 but quickly started to use it as a track day weapon.

The Rapid has been described often as a poor man's Porsche. It has a similar setup to the 911 - rear engine and trailing arm suspension but it also has all the jokes which the Porsche never had.

The car has no petrol at all. I removed all the petrol system to use LPG. The interior is stripped due to the previous owner smoking heavily. So it seemed like a good idea to put some decent seats and harnesses in.

The kit is as basic as it comes -

Bottle from Wizards (2nd hand + SPRV) (bottle in the picture is a spare I got)
Gauge and line from NX
Bottle heater and pressure switch from Red Dragon and all the electrics from the local truck motor factor.
Pulsoids, jets and fogger from WON
LPG connections from TinleyTech

The Nitrous bottle is fitted across the front of the car with the LPG tank. This was the only way to fit it as I didn't want it in the car with me and there isn't enough space any other way round. ( I can also squeeze in an 11lb bottle if necessary)
Image
The pressure gauge for the fuel and the nitrous are reasonably near each other. My bottle has a neoprene jacket to keep it warm as the boot gets cold with the LPG tank. The bottle heater is under the jacket, the relay can just be seen on the right.

Image

I have a braided line as my kit is a mix between Homebrew, NX and WON. Also the line has to run under the car so braided is really the only way to go for this route. I did consider a solid pipe like the LPG but this is worse than braided for performance. The line happens to be just the right length for my install.

The solenoids are mounted above the engine as there is no where else near by to put them. The LPG and Nitrous lines run together from the front of the car

The fogger is into the air feed from the turbo to the throttle body. The throttle body is a cut about carburettor with no venturi and all the holes blocked up until I can fit a proper one with a decent set of manifolds. The manifolds will have to be custom made so this will take some time!

The car has a turbo from a renault 5 and sucks the air through an LPG mixer. I created it to compete in the PPC £999 challenge so it had to cost less than £1000
The car cost £50
The seats, belts, turbo and LPG cost about £300 and the rest is all nitrous kit. They do not include odd pipes, bolts, welding, cable ties and duct tape in the cost. They also don't include decoration so paint and stickers isn't included either!

Image
On the dash I removed the ashtray and fitted (from the top left)
Fuel switch, Ignition switch
Nitrous Arm, bottle heater
inside the steering wheel I fitted a switch to the nitrous for track use so when I am at WOT I don't need to disarm the Nitrous and can get a bit extra when I need it. This is overridden with a paperclip for 1/4 mile runs so I get nitrous at WOT.

At the moment I do not have a controller but am looking to add one when I increase for 50/100 jets to something bigger
The WON kit is so smooth in its delivery I do not need one at the moment but I might fit a purge for pose value - who ever heard of a Skoda needing to purge a nitrous system!

The ignition switch has been moved as I tow the car to events on an A bar built for the purpose. As I tow it on its wheels the steering lock had to be removed.

The A bar has 10mm steel brackets fabricated and fixed to the chassis rails. The bar has pins to fix to these points and uses a powerboat gear cable to operate the foot brake inside the car. As the car is about 600kg I do not officially need to have brakes but as the tow car users manual says to brake over 500kg I decided I would like to have brakes!

I know its quite sad to find enthusiastic Skoda owners but here I am  at Mallory

More updates to come but just swapped the old hacked carb for a rover throttle body. Unfortunately I am going to need to get a metal body as the plastic one got a bit singed first time out!

I love it! Do you have any problems getting LPG? Round here there is only one place that does it.

Is she still road legal? You could surprise a few people at the lights :p

I used to LOVE the old Skoda Rapide. I've not seen one for years.

And it should be road legal, 'cos he's towing it on an A frame, so the car needs to be Taxed. Although this can be considered a grey area...

Yep Road Legal - needs an MOT at the moment  so not strictly so......

Oh yes - off the lights its quick even without any mods.

I get pulled not because I'm speeding or anything but more HOW does one of THOSE get to 60 mph so quick?

When I took the engine out we had less than 50% compression on no 2 and only about 25% on No1 - How on earth did this engine still run a 17 second 1/4? (no nitrous)

'New' Engine going back together - bit of an issue getting the bolts in as this block hasnt been used for a while. A small amount of corrosion to fix!

New(er) pistons and liners. Got good compression and the rings are immaculate so hopefully we shouldnt have some of the smoking and heavy breathign issues

So Saab 9000 turbo this time - just need to check its oil seals and ELECTRONIC IGNITION

Ah well - gotta generate a spark somehow!

And the other engine for the supercharger is coming along......

Thanks

Yep - remember the body kits but I havnt found any on fleabay or anywhere - even in czech they seem in short supply.

At the moment I am trying to keep it as much a street sleeper as possible

I have some ideas though to direct the air from the rad over through the boot and over the car which should help a bit down the 1/4
