Good weather again to day so I was able to run the nitrous line, took quite a while to fathom out a route but after removing the glovebox and surrounding trim found a passage thru the electrical box and then out thru an existing grommet.

Route to the boot tricky the cabs on these Z4's are really sealed up, managed to lift main cabin rear panel and feed thru using a stiff draw wire

Is there supposed to be any rubber or lining to the inside of my bottle bracket hoops, its not a tight fit aound the bottle, even though its fully done up I can rotate the bottle fairly easily?

I did exactly the same as you when fitting my nitrous line...

its quite easy to fit a nitrous kit in theory, its making it all look neat that takes ages....

yes there is supposed to be a thin black, foam like, self adhesive strip on the inside of the hoops to help grip the bottle and stop it rotating.

Connected up the fuel T and pipe to the solenoid today, nice and easy as the section of fuel pipe is easily removed with quick release fittings.

Unfortunately, this piece of inlet pipe was found to be perished so have ordered another, the crossfire will go into this section

Thats something you have discovered that could be affecting performance/fuel economy, that you may not have found otherwise

It was weird really, I had just finished doing a test of the spark strength with a tester and refitted some harder plugs with the WON mod of shortening the earth strap and started the engine for a test, it was bogging a bit after some reving and I heard the whoose sound you get when you have an air leak, i'd not noticed that before and i'm usually pretty good at picking up unusual noises. Apparently its not an uncommon problem that these perish, I may have hastened it when poking around.

You could use one of these in the future: Image

It's cleaner and you can still use the circuit as normal.

Ok 1st problem, switched the maxxy off, started the car to move it in the drive and its coughing and spluttering! After a bit of head scratching decided to disconnect R10 from the Max and the engine ran fine....any suggestions?

A bit more info, I put my diagnostics reader in and it threw up a P0221 fault, P0221 - Throttle/Petal Position Sensor/Switch 'B' Circuit Range/Performance Problem

Possible causes
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) harness is open or shorted
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) circuit poor electrical connection
Faulty Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
Fault Electric Throttle Control Actuator (or Throttle Body Motor)
Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APP)

Its seems the Maxxy doesnt like its connection to the TPS, but why?

Since the Maxy was off when the car was unhappy, then it could be that the car's ECU has a sensitive TPS circuit. An additional component may be needed to avoid signal problems such as an inline resistor. The best course of action is to email WoN at enquiries@noswizard.com because this issue is not uncommon. It could also be that there is an error in the wiring connection, could you provide a drawing or photo of sorts to show what was done?

Photo would be difficult now as access is limited with all the air intake back on, suffice to say all I have done is spliced the the 5-0v TPS connection about an inch behind its plug connector, (note i didnt cut it just removed some sheathing) and then soldered a wire which was then routed to the maxxy R10, you may or may not remember my other post "TPS connection question" on advice for that, I have a falling voltage on my TPS.

Ah ok. Then it should be a resistor you'd need to keep the car ecu happy: email won for the right one.

FYI Just got this response from David Langfield

Hi Andrew,

I doubt there is a problem with the max or your car... we've had this before on a handful of vehicles. The max is designed specifically to take a minimum load so that it doesn't affect the voltage of the cars TPS however as you mention further down about sensitive cars. This is the reason, your vehicle is likely to be very sensitive to the voltage feedback. It has been suggested that it could be a ground referencing problem as the Max is likely to take a different ground to the ECU causing a shift.

There is also one setting in the max that could cause the issue. If you go in to your inputs menu and check for "trigger load" and make sure that is set to off. Also as the instructions say ground any unused inputs as that can impact referencing.

If none of those work, do you have a 0-5v on the throttle body you could try? Also you mention you have a falling voltage... I know some cars do have this but just to be sure did you check all of your wires on the sensor. We have found some vehicles with two variable voltage wires. If you don't have another 0-5v source then the only option left is to use a micro switch to trigger the unit.

Hope that advice helps... just let us know if you need any more help.
Kind Regards

David Langfield
