Hello All,
i'm off to pop my drag race cherry on the 14th sept. looking for advice please.
i run a bandit 1200 with a 50shot of WON.

it is a road bike so nothing lengthened or lowered.

my main concern is the christmas tree. and getting a good start. once rolling i'll be fine.

thanks

OK well here's a few tips;

1) Get to see where OTHER bikes are positioned (when the first staging light glows) relative to some marker you can use, so you can quickly get to that position and try to do that BEFORE the other guy. There's nothing worse than being miles from the beams and just creeping forward from there, as it distracts you from the important stuff and it may cause the starter to hurry you in to stage and then you'll probably screw the whole run up.

2) Once you've got the first light glowing, just calm yourself down and wait for the other guy to light his first bulb.

3) When he's done that you have 2 options; a) Wait for him to light his second and then EDGE your bike forward AN INCH AT A TIME, while getting your engine buzzing and ready to launch, as the lights will change quickly if you take this option OR b) Edge forward AN INCH AT A TIME BEFORE he lights the 2nd bulb and when you have both lights glowing QUICKLY prepare to launch, because as soon as the other guy lights 2 bulbs the tree will change almost instantly.

4) AVOID RUSHING the move from one to two lights glowing, as you could move too far (which would cause the first light to go out) and it will almost certainly result in a RED LIGHT (FOUL) start. If you accidentally do that BEFORE (ONLY) the other guy lights two, you can pull back and restart from having just the first bulb glowing BUT you CAN'T do that if the other guy has 2 bulbs glowing, as it will be too late.

5) On your first runs you'd be better to FORGET about what the other guy does after the lights change and let him get some way down the track before you launch, as that will allow you to CONCENTRATE on getting YOUR launch right, as it is all too easy to get carries away with it being a race (when it will just be practice/qualifying) and in so doing screw up your runs.

6) DON'T go there thinking that Drag racing is SIMPLE and any fool could do it, as doing the job well is far from easy and the main secret to success, is to be in the RIGHT FRAME OF MIND from the start of each race.

That's about it, so best wishes for an enjoyable and successful event. I'll look forward to hearing how it all goes for you.

We'd service them the same day they reach us and send them back the next day, especially if you state that you need them back URGENTLY on a note in the parcel.

just had a proper look at system again, the pulsoids were pulsing when activated - which is strange as i have no modulation installed!

so reset the trigger point of the TPS and that has fixed it.

alls well in the land of nitrous again.

So how did you get on at the track??

What was your best ET?

I borrowed a mate's Bandit 12 (Dynojetted, 125bhp at the wheel) and did ONE run. I managed a 11.03sec run, although that was at Shakespeare County. Mate then hopped back on and hit an 11.01sec run.

My Bandit 6 used to do 11.40sec with a 25 shot of gas and 11.80 without the gas.

Mind you, I'm built for speed, being 9 stone dripping wet :D :D
