For a race application, would there be any benefit from fitting the bottle upside down, without a dip tube? Or indeed – what is the optimum fitment for a race car (doorslammer – not dragster)

Yes, yes - finally got a kit (though I need to get a plate and another set of pulsoids sometime, but hey im getting there!!)

Yes there is and for a perfect example check out Johnny Barbs Pro Mod car in the gallery section of my web site.

Glad you've managed to become a full member of our cult at last. ;)

lol

That's the one and if you ask Johnny nicely you might get him to send you one or two clearer shots but I'll warn you now he guards most of our secrets closely, so don't expect too much. ;)

Thanks Trev,
Will drop Johnny a PM - but I know hes very busy atm
Quick question - for the minute at least! - is mounting the bottle this way sill using the 'std' Maxiflow valve? (or is that something else I will need to update?!?)

Johnny uses the NX ball valves because they are a straight through larger bore than anything we or anyone else offers.

Turning the bottles up side down is beneficial for performance but it (like most things) does have down sides for other practical issues.

I'll go into detail some other time as I'm having to finish now.

Digging this one up again - and stupid question time!
The NX ball valves, these would fit one of your UK bottles wouldnt they?
Im now the proud owner of 2 lovely polished bottles, 2 sets of pulsoids....just need the spider or DP setup to finish it off :D
Im also set on fitting these upside down, as I have easy access to change the bottle, turn the valves on/off etc

No, none of the US valves fit any UK bottles but you don't need the NX valves to have adequate flow, because our Flowmax bottles valves outflow the best Speedtech have to offer and there's is good enough for most Pro Mod cars, which should say it all. ;)
