Here's my question - what are the thoughts on attempting to use fuel injectors thru discharge tubes for the fuel side of a nitrous setup?

A liitle background -- I'm finishing up a fuel injection conversion on my old yamaha FJ1200. I have an extra ECU and fuel injectors as left overs. My dragbike (also a Yamaha FJ) runs lectron carbs. I'd prefer to keep them and not convert to EFI. I'd like to add nitrous for next year using the discharge tube setup. Then I thought of replacing the fuel solenoid and nozzles with fuel injectors and ECU.

Problem is there is not a convenient way to add the injectors (and fuel rail) to the intake track without moving the carbs back a fair amount. Then I thought of remote mounting the fuel injectors and spraying down the carb throats using discharge tubes.

Anyone tried something like this? Will the fuel just puddle up in the tubes? Are the injectors "strong" enough to consistently force the fuel to the engine reliably? Or will the fine atomized spray cause issues in the tubes?

Thanks,
Chris

While it may work OK (even though all those issues you mentioned are almost certainly going to occur), I would think your biggest problem is going to be connecting ANYTHING to the outlet of an injector, as they aren't designed to have anything added to that end.
Personally I'd stick to using a Pulsoid feeding Y-Blocks and discharge tubes and if the new price is more that your budget allows, we have good used Pulsoids available and may even have some used Y-Blocks also.

Trevor, thanks for the reply -- been a while since I've checked in.

I'm sure I'll be much better off following tried and true methods vice trying to complicate it

Best of luck to you in your "semi retirement"!

Wise miove and thanks for your good wishes, although at present I'm not seeing any benefits from 'semi' retirement.
