when i route nylon pipe for my shifter in places where it could be abraided i cover it in some hard plastic braid you can get for tidying computer wireing.

Wise move, once people accept the numerous advantages of nylon pipe over braided hose, there are ways to deal with it's limitations but the same is not true of braided.
