I'm sure all on here will realise that as we make small mods to our cars in the hope of getting quicker and quicker, our cars eventually start to look different?

Most of you guys will notice a difference in the look of your cars under the bonnet / hood?

Some of us decide to go hardcore and do whatever is required to gain those valuable seconds on the 1/4 mile. I guess I've fallen into that category.

Back in the day I was happy to have a nice shiny factory built MGB V8 in great condition to show off at MG events. But then I realised that I was just another "good factory car" person.

Then I decided to go for the HotRod look. This was fine but not to everyones taste in the MG scene??

The comments I got at MG shows like "What on earth have you done" or "You do realise that there are only 2700 of these cars in the world so why have you done this to it" got me to think, WTF.... Its my car and I'm gonna race it

So here is the MGB in its most early HotRod guise.
Cool aint it?? But sadly only 14.8 seconds on the 1/4 mile.
Image

And the next incarnation that ran 12.4 seconds on the original 3500 engine + won.
Image

And todays look with a 4.6 + blower + Chevy tranny + won @ 10.4 seconds.
Image

Show us some pics of how your cars have changed over the years??

Perry

Thanks Neil
The rear arches are bolted over the metal I cut off to get the tyres under :)

They come off easily for work as they are fixed on with self tapping hex head screws !!

I prefer the stealth look. My 2008 FN2 CTR has been classified by many a motoring journalist as being the underdog compared to other hot hatches in its class and that`s fine to me.
At the traffic lights however I`ve captured more than a few scalps from the Scooby/Beemer/GTI brigade. They think I`m an easy prey so after I smoke them I usually let them pass. Their puzzled look when they turn their heads towards me is priceless. I love my nitrous kit.
The only giveaway are the WON stickers on the rear sidewindows of my car but I don`t think people really know what it stands for.
Can`t show any pictures of my car as I`m not into show and shine.
Besides, I live in a small town and the local patrol nazis can be some real bastards.

Is your MGB still streetlegal Perry?

Such is the path to faster times

I think i am so close to reaching a limit in my car without taking a big step.
What i would like to do is build another car purely dedicated to the strip. Chimaeras are getting old now and far too many are being scrapped to make more money as parts. I want to 'save' one, give it a proper back end and axle and tub it to take some big drag tyres. Up front i dont know yet... be nice to stay with a rover.
I think it would shock a few with a blower like yours Pel

One of the better upgrades was the TH350 tranny Del??
A stock TH350 Streetfighter gearbox with an off the shelf B&M Megashifter kit. This was a reasonably expensive job to convert at £1200 for the gearbox + £400 for the conversion kit + £300 for the converter and another £280 for the shifter kit.

I've just gasped at how much I spent on that lot now???
But it took half a second off my times straight away on the 3500 lump and the kit is good for over 600hp which is why I did it in the first place. I knew that I could keep on uprating the engine power without worrying about the final drive system.

That was a good day out eh ?

I often like to grant folk wishes.... I'm that sort of giving guy as you know.

I fixed it for you by letting you see an MGB in your rear view mirror as a once in a lifetime thing.. :beatstick:

Oh yes it is!!
But not when I'm not reading the Sunday Mirror while waiting for the Skoda guy to get in stage and then the lights change before I've finished reading the adverts for cheap Viagra ?

When I'm actualy concentrating the MGB leaves the line like this :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjZz6esz ... ature=plcp

But as you say!
Winning is winning!!
First across the line is the winner regardless of ET or speed...

All hail the Skoda
