I was sent a link to the clip below and it reminded me of the time I did the very first doughnut ever done in a car (a few years before Nigel Mansell did his), so I decided to dig that out and post them both;

If you listen closely to the engine note, you can hear me switching the nitrous system on and off, in order to maintain a balance between avoiding excessive rpm and preventing the increasing traction from it stalling.

You did the first ever doughnut, ever to be done in a car....ever?

Yup! Back then it was even new for bikes to do it and it was because I was from a bike background that I familiar with it and decided to give it a try.

A few years later Nigel Mansell did it after winning a GP and he was generally credited with doing the first one.

Back then most bikers & car drivers were pretty restrained in what they did, limiting themselves to conventional burnouts and it was only a couple of years earlier that some bikes had started doing doughnuts.

Even if someone digs out some other car that did a doughnut before (that I'm not aware of), I'm CERTAIN they wouldn't have done so many at such high speed, so I'd settle for being the first to do that.

If anyone is to dispute my claim they'd better have video evidence as I've produced and for the record my date can be verified by pictures of my car, that were shown in magazines at the time.

BTW I also 'assisted' in creating the first flaming burnout by both a bike & a car.

It was one of my lesser achievements but a fun one none the less.

The crowd certainly loved it and as you hear at the end of the clip, I was well known for my excessive burnouts.
