Spam alert!!!

All over the bloody forum this morning....lol

It's not even good spam as the spammers are too thick to do that right as there's no links to the goods they are trying to tout.

Sometime they add this stuff, then have an automated process that comes back later on and alters their sig to be a link.

Have deleted the user though anyway.

They seem to have got a bit more advanced and are now getting past the spam prevention measures on the board more easily than they were.

The forum will be getting some work on it soon anyway, so its probably a good idea if at that time more antispam measures are introduced.

At least 99% of spam attempts are still getting stopped though.

I am banning 2 or 3 a day normally...

When you do the work on the board, would it be possibly to add "BAN BY DOMAIN" as in most cases although the user names are weird and different, the domain...such as "xyzw238h@nfl-jerseys-online.com" are the same and it would stop more of them once the domain after the @ sign was banned ?

Its probably not going to be me doing the changes.
As Im sure you have noticed, I am struggling to provide the time that running a fairly large forum such as this really requires to do properly (ie continual script updates and spam patching etc) so rather than to continue to provide just a "it keeps the site up but isnt really what it deserves" level of service which has been the best that I (as an unpaid enthusiast helping out) can provide, I believe that the next person to take over the forum will do so on a professional level, although I am of course happy to stay on as one of the admin team if Trev wishes.

Not sure on exact timescales, but pretty soon I believe
