I just started with plumbing in another NOS-to-WON upgrade system for the PITA and it's looking quite good. The system is not fully installed because I must do the electrical work and I want some of the ECU to handle the nitrous. The system will only be used at low power jetting (50hp at most) until I install the direct port water injection for serious power. Moreover, I want to also have a progressive controller that will work in tandem with the ECU for nitrous control, but that will come at a later time.

I did go overkill with the two crossfires, but know that I will be maxing out these 150's eventually. And with the large intake plenum, I wanted the crossfires to criss-cross for improved nitrous/fuel intermixing, although 1 single crossfire could have done just as well. But mostly, the twin injectors are more for "WOW" factor.

Looking really nice
Believe me when I tell you that twin crossfires is not just a wow factor. Based on real time testing and experience on 2 V12 engines, when you start getting into the 150 - 200 shot territory the twin setup did the trick.
I'm glad someone else will experience the benefits and if it was me I wouldn't waste my time with the 50 shot on that engine. Go directly to 100 or 150 progressive

The reason I'm sticking with such small jettings is that I have some fine tuning to do with the ECU still. This engine will take much more than 150 shot, and if I need more than that I can swap with my Sonic's 250 Pulsoids (and steal the Maxy from it too). This is a pretty slow project as there are other projects I want to take on with the SFBK.

The PITA is officially equipped with the lovely nectar!

I managed to wire it up to my stand-alone ECU and it will trigger the nitrous (100 hp will be used thanks to Hadi convincing me to do so [I still wanna see that Lambo rip on 180 hp!]) under certain conditions. Testing will commence soon and I'll have some good video of unleashing 100 hp into my highway beast! The hit will be fixed until I can afford to install a Maxy or rob the Sonic of its Maxy since it's already fuel pump limited.

P.S.

And you'll love the manner of activating the nitrous! But that is to be revealed in time!

Today was a great success with the PITA on the lovely nectar!

Although I'm glad that Hadi convinced me to go to the 100 hp fixed hit, I would've had to go to that level anyway. First, I tried the 25 hp jets just to get the feel of the fuel system and engine response while using the typical 2:1 rich N/F ratio, which ended up being too rich and caused sluggish performance. I then adjusted the ratio to 2.5:1 which corrected the issue (while still being safely richer than boost only), but the 25 hit was just too little on such a heavy boat with an automatic gearbox.

Then I tried the 50 jets, which was an improvement but still not enough to move the ole boat off the line. Finally I went with the 100 jets (while still 2.5:1) and the DAMN THING WENT SIDEWAYS ON ME!!! ROFL!!!

On the 100 hit, the engine just rockets and boost shoots upwards like a volcano eruption! Mind you, I have the boost at only 12 psi where the nitrous automatically cuts off at 11 (so I don't kill myself right away) and a set of DRAG RADIALS IN SUNNY 35* (95*F) WEATHER. But between 5 and 10 psi from a stop, the car just wants to kick out the rear and smoke up the tires!

Hitting it from a 25 roll keeps the car gripped and it just launches until the boost limit and there is a definite difference between boost on the juice and off the juice. The car is plenty quick on boost only when at 15 psi, but damn 15 psi and the little 100 shot MUST BE ABSOLUTELY MENTAL!!!

 :D :drunken:

How about a 75 shot if the 100 is a bit much and the 50 not enough ?

Haha the goal here is 200 with a progressive ramp.

This car is just getting mental!

Well, this car is ABSOLUTELY mental to the most now that it is tuned up for 21 psi boost! The car is really really fast now and it is scary to hammer the pedal down but I do get a moment to prepare for it thanks to some convenient boost onset lag.

However once the nitrous hits, it's another story. The car has almost NO LAG once the lovely nectar starts flowing, and literally 1 second of its use (logged on my pc) the boost is from 0 to 15 psi where it deactivates and lets the turbo take over. Furthermore, the nitrous causes the tires to lose grip at 70 MPH (113kph)! AGAIN WITH NITTO DRAG RADIALS equipped! The pull is just amazing and I'm working my way up to a full-time nitrous tune to see just how much crazier this car can get on the nitrous.

For the days when I'm not off my medication, I'll keep the nitrous cut off at 15 psi because the MASSIVE torque the nitrous gives is just absolutely nuts: the back end squats like mad at 55 mph (89 kph)

 :D

The magenta color line is the throttle percentage, which you can see is held at its max for a WOT pull.

Green is the engine RPM where you can see the gear downshift @ 1:07

Blue is nitrous activation; the vertical line is where it hits and nitrous is sprayed.

Red is the engine load in psi.

This is a WOT pull from about 40 mph @ 2500 rpm. @ 3k I command the nitrous on where the first blue vertical line is. From that point, you can see that the boost begins to ramp up exponentially. 0.7 seconds after the hit, the boost really starts to rise up quickly and the torque begins to really kick in. Another 0.7 seconds pass where nitrous cuts off from reaching the 15 psi mark, totaling 1.4 seconds to go from 0 to 15 psi. Although not the fastest recorded spool up, it's still well within the average of my runs with 1 second flat being the quickest.

I let off early at 5300 rpm on this one (as indicated by the magenta line going to near 0), but post that rpm is where the car struggles for grip.

This car is going to be NASTY with full on nitrous on regular PUMP fuel, thanks to the nitrous and its massive intercooling increases and detonation reductions! I'm confident that 600+ bhp is within reach on 100 hp worth of nitrous and 20+ psi on 93 octane gas!

Trev, once I install that alcohol kit, it's 200 hp time where we should approach 800+ bhp.

This turbo has been known to produce over 700-750 WHEEL hp on alcohol spray and 30 psi boost, but I'm confident that I can do the same or better with lower boost, alky inj, and nitrous; extending turbo life while getting BETTER spoolup and MORE power from better intercooling.

Can you believe that I'm still waiting on parts for my gearbox? Apparently, they are hard to find and I may not get another modified sprag for quite a while, if ever. So I'm swapping in a similar unit for the Japanese turbo variant that is higher in strength in standard form. However, I'm not sure if it will hold the torque that my engine puts out, but it is better than nothing. I'm working on upping the shift speed and clamping with some mods to the valve unit.

Should hold around 500 or so if I reduce power before the shift where it's susceptible to wrecking the sprag. I also have to use the Japanese ECU for it to work and that is a project for another day.

The pita is now complete and the gearbox works perfectly, but only time with it will tell whether it's up the task of handling the power. Nitrous will be for spool only, until the gearbox proves itself.
