This recent customer won his division on all motor this year against others with nitrous so I assume next year he will do quite well by adding our wet kit.

We are racing in Sand, 300ft, not much time for error. You have to rocket off the starting line so the wheelie bar is a must. It is alot of fun. I will be using a drag chassis that will hopefully make it more controllable and consistant. Looking to up the power on the single cylinder too. :D

What cc is the motor and what have you done to it so far?

It started out as a 660cc and is a little bit bigger than that now. From the factory hp is around 34, it is now putting out about 80hp. Pretty much everything in the motor has been modified or changed.

Top job!

A customer of mine is currently running an extra 10hp on his Gas Gas road quad, scared the crap out of me on the road test!

I found about these systems through overrated. I would like to post a picture of another drag atv of which he is part owner along with myself and a couple others. Image
I also would like to know about running one of these systems with methanol. I have been considering a seperate fuel source for race fuel for the nitrous while the engine runs on methanol. Any advice would be very helpfull.

Welcome to my forum.

Nice piece! 8)

Why do you want to use another fuel (race fuel) for the nitrous fuel enrichment rather than using methanol and keeping it simple?

Thanks for the welcome.
My experience with methanol is that it corrodes pretty much everything in the fuel system and some engine parts. I purge my system with gasoline (race gas) to prevent or slow down the effects. I also run lubricants in the methanol. From what I gather your pulsnoids are of superior design than what I have seen in my area of the US. I was not sure if they were designed or would hold up to methanol and/or lubricants. Plumbing a small fuel system would not be a real problem for the nitrous. Espcially if I did not have to purge it or worry with corrosion or guming from lubricants.

In my experience my Pulsoids work fine with methanol, although it is minority fuel compared with the fuels that our systems are normally used with.

I've never known anyone need to flush methanol out of our systems but it could be a worthwhile precaution as methanol isn't the most friendly fuel on the planet.

Oil also should not be a problem, as our systems have been used on many 2 strokes without any ill effects.

If these were your only reasons for not using methanol as your nitrous fuel enrichment than I wouldn't concern yourself or go to the trouble of another fuel system.

By the way, unless you know better or unless the rules require otherwise, I'd expect your quad to accelerate quicker with much shorter exhaust pipes, or at least larger diameter pipes for the majority of the current length.

Thanks for your input. I will stick with methanol completly then. As far as the exhaust it is a dual system on a single cylinder. The pipes are stepped midway all the way to the reverse megaphone. This has been found to produce a flatter torque curve that comes on earlier while giving excellent top end overrev. So far this the best setup we have found. There have been some extra large stepped head pipes but the tourque numbers went down and the HP went up a little.
I would rather have the torque when compared to the small gain in HP.

This is the same basic engine as an MUZ or XTZ660 like sold over your way.

Agreed torque is more use than power for acceleration and I couldn't see the different pipe diameters you mention. However when you add nitrous you'll increase the exhaust volume and you may then find a higher flowing system would be advantageous.

I agree. Now, everyone is hoping to get the same spot just like he had.
